Jim Goad first gained notoriety as the editor and chief writer of ANSWER Me! magazine, publishing four issues out of a scummy Hollywood apartment between 1991 and 1994.
Jim's first book, The Redneck Manifesto (Simon and Schuster, 1997), was considered by many to be a ground-breaking critique of American race relations, and was met with much critical acclaim.
Jim has recently agreed to allow the making of a feature-length film adaptation of Shit Magnet, and continues to freelance for a number of periodicals, both big and small.

At one point Goad asks, "Did you ever had sex with a child while it was still in the womb?", probably biting his lip to keep a straight face, and gets answers that are about as unenlightening as you would expect given the nature of the questioning.
Jim's command of the language is excellent and he can be very funny and bitter and revealing in a way that hasn't been seen since Richard Pryor, but his self-justification and arrogance are downright depressing in the worst way.
Goad belongs in roughly the same "underground" as Whitehouse, Peter Sotos, Boyd Rice and the extant members of the Manson family -- people who are not out on a limb, but off the tree completely, and garner plenty of attention from folks for precisely that reason.

Jim Goad is talented enough that he should have become a more successful journalist/writer (I *liked* Redneck Manifesto) than he is; something tells me that he's probably too persona non grata to get much work.
Goad were to come across a redneck who took the time to understand what he wrote, he'd be in for an ass-whuppin.
