AllSports (tm) Buckeyes survive (again) against upset-minded Marshall, 24-21
It was a another gut-wrenching, too close for comfort victory over upset-minded Marshall thanks to the talented foot of senior All-American PK Mike Nugent and his 55 yard field goal as time expired that propelled the Buckeyes past the Thundering Herd 24-21 before 104,622 Saturday at Ohio Stadium.
This scenario has become all too familiar for the scarlet and gray clad Buckeye faithful every time Coach Jim Tressel leads his Ohio State football team onto the field on game day.
During the 2001 season, Jim Tressel's first year as head coach, the Buckeyes went 1-4 in games decided by a touchdown or less.

 NFL HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES
In 1964, Carl Eller, a consensus All-America with the University of Minnesota, was a first-round draft pick of both the National Football League’s Minnesota Vikings and the Buffalo Bills of the then-rival American Football League.
It was Eller who caused the now infamous fumble that led to teammate Jim Marshall’s wrong-way run for a safety in 1964 in a game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Extremely quick and mobile for his size, Carl was an excellent defender against the run and superb as a pass rusher.
