No cause for alarm, govt still holds power says PM 25 July: Prime minister Jim Marurai said yesterday that the meeting held in parliament chaired by speaker Norman George was not a legal session of parliament.
Marurai said he was disappointed in Teina Bishop's actions at the meeting in which he took part in a vote of no confidence in the prime minister.
Marurai said a date has yet to be set for a general election and government was now taking a low key approach to the actions taken by the opposition.

Prime Minister Jim Marurai was nearly toppled by former Prime Minister Sir Geoffrey Henry, but in a piece of gamesmanship, Parliament was suddenly dissolved and an election called.
Earlier in the morning Mr Marurai was around the other side of the island where he persuaded Queen's Representative Fred Goodwin to dissolve Parliament and call a snap election.

Jim Marurai will be the Prime Minister if the Democratic Party wins the General Elections on September 26, says Dr. Terepai Maoate.
The Demo leader made this announcement on radio and television, and at a political meeting in Matavera, Thursday in response to CIP attacks on the dual leadership in government.
