  McDivitt
General McDivitt was born in 1929, in Chicago, Ill. He graduated from Central High School in Kalamazoo, Mich., and received his bachelor of science degree in aeronautical engineering from the University of Michigan in 1959.
Although preparations went smoothly, McDivitt decided to delay EVA for one revolution, both because of the high level of activity required and because deletion of the rendezvous attempt reduced the tightness of the schedule.
McDivitt and Schweickart reentered the LM on March 6.

James McDivitt was selected as command pilot for the upcoming Gemini 4 flight with Ed White serving as pilot.
It became clear shortly after liftoff that McDivitt's plan to maintain a fixed distance from the jettisoned second stage of the Titan II launch vehicle would have to be abandoned because the stage was tumbling so severely that its orbit had deteriorated from that of the spacecraft.
McDivitt made the call to delay the EVA until the third revolution in order to give them the time they needed to properly check and don the equipment.

In Search of Gordon Cooper's UFOs
Another witness whose testimony UFO buffs should trust is the "capcom", the astronaut who was talking to Cooper and Conrad during the incident.
It was James McDivitt, who has never made any secret of his own UFO-related experiences in the space program.
In OMNI, Cooper summarized the whole mythology: "To my knowledge, the only astronaut on any of the Mercury, Gemini, or Apollo missions who ever saw anything that might have been a UFO was Jim McDivitt, but he didn't get enough pictures to prove anything substantial.
