McDougal's late ex-husband Jim wanted her in 1996 to cooperate with the special prosecutor's investigation of President Bill Clinton, Claudia Riley, a longtime friend of the McDougals, testified.
McDougal, who finished testifying in her own defense Tuesday, is currently on trial for charges stemming from her refusal in 1996 and again in 1998 to testify before Starr's Whitewater grand jury.
McDougal's attorney, Mark Geragos said Steele is "the logical extension" of McDougal's defense.
