Jim Miller has been playing and performing traditional music for the past 35 years.
In addition to being an accomplished performer and workshop leader, Jim also is an enthusiastic jam facilitator who likes to get everyone involved.
Jim holds certification in music education and teaches 4th grade at Cloudland Elementary School in Roan Mountain, Tennessee, where he leads an after school traditional string band program.

Miller joined a church there and soon after he was appointed a deputy by county sheriff G. "Bud" Frazer.
Miller was on his way to Fort Stockton with a Mexican prisoner, when he shot and killed the man. He claimed the man was trying to escape.
Miller was injured but was threatening enough, that when he went for his own gun, Frazer fled.

Jim was the business manager for Oroboros and orchestrated their 18-year odyssey on the road, visiting Thailand, Canada and all of the U.S. from the Rockies to Florida to Nantucket.
Of course, there will be Jim's originals, which he made popular with Oroboros, as well as covers of the Grateful Dead, Beatles, Phish, Blues, Roots music and Rock 'n' Roll.

Jim Miller has been an avid collector of cut glass for more than 40 years and he is a past president of the American Cut Glass Association.
He and his parents, Joe and Francis Miller, have one of the finest cut glass collections in the world - 4,000 objects including 1,200 cut-to-clear pieces.
In recent years, Jim has produced an excellent series of videos based on this collection.
