HOT SPRINGS, Ark. -- Retired trainer James "Jim" Hughes, once a regular at Oaklawn Park thoroughbred racetrack and a prominent horseman, has died at 66.
Hughes, who retired in Hot Springs, died Thursday from congestive heart failure at Audi Murphy Veteran's Hospital in San Antonio, Oaklawn Park said in a news release Saturday.
Among the horses trained by Hughes was Go Step, a stakes winner who won the 1979 King Cotton Handicap.
