		But nope, perhaps O'Rourke has already gotten bored with his computer, as for this performance he was sporting a (prepared?) Fender Jaguar guitar and table of unknown electronics connected to what looked like a midi controller keyboard.
		O'Rourke had settled down a bit, but it was still noisy as ever when someone who is best described as an asshole threw a plastic cup full of liquid and ice, hitting O'Rourke all over and supposedly ruining a few thousand dollars' worth of the mysterious electronics.

		O'Rourke's education would seem to have had little influence on his musical work, as for the most part it was based firmly in the post-serialist tradition; here, music is written according to a strict set of rules and a student's work can be judged according to its adherence to those rules.
		O'Rourke isn't reactionary enough to suggest that this education was a waste of time, acknowledging that all the time spent learning techniques like counterpoint was relevant to his musical work.
		O'Rourke is only too well aware of how the improvising scene is very political, with the people you get to work with often depending on who you have worked with before.

		The pop stylings of Jim O'Rourke will never seem familiar to any of us (that's not his style, silly) but his combination of folk, classic rock, (smooth jazz) and the inevitable twist of the old avant-garde is always something new.
		Evidently so much cigarette smoke has clouded Jim's interior thought process that he has allowed these early works to regain public consumption potentiality (the series subtitle, "Jim O'Rourke Old Series" might indicate even more will be on the way).
		This set was my personal introduction to the O'Rourke planet/star-set (and what a fine, fine omniverse it's been and continues to be), the highlight of Jim's earlier tape-based work.
