Peterik was a freshman at the University of Illinois when the Shondels expanded to include a horn section and adopted a name based on Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, the Ides of March.
One of Peterik's later collaborators is Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys.
Peterik's CD Jim Peterik and World Stage on his own World Stage International label features 38 Special's Don Barnes, Cathy Richardson, Night Ranger's Kelly Keagy, and REO Speedwagon's Kevin Cronin and will possibly be aired as a PBS special.

Jim Peterik co-founded The Ides of March with schoolmates in 1965 at only 14 years old.
In 1982, Jim and Survivor had their first million seller with “Eye of the Tiger” – theme from Rocky lll, which he co-wrote, co-produced and played keyboard and guitar.
