Jim “The Machine” Shearer enters his 34th year with the Cardinals, assisting in all aspects of the training and medical areas.
Shearer, along with fellow assistant Jeff Herndon, and head trainer John Omohundro were named the National Football League’s 1993 athletic training staff-of-the-year by the Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society (PFATS) and recognized for that achievement at the annual Ed Block Courage Awards Dinner.
A graduate of the University of Wyoming with a bachelor’s degree in physical education, Shearer worked in Gillette, WY as the city’s assistant recreation director and head trainer at Gillette High School before returning to Wyoming as a graduate assistant trainer in 1973–74.

ST. PETERSBURG - Jim Shearer, whose professional career has focused on at-risk youth, is the new head of school at Academy Prep Center of St. Petersburg.
Shearer most recently was principal at TUMC Academy, a public charter school under the auspices of Tampa United Methodist Centers.
Shearer was an adult probation officer and community outreach worker who "has had unique opportunities to work with many professional athletes and recording artists in coordinating and producing summer sports camps, concerts and special events to benefit underserved youth in several U.S. cities," the school's Web site says.

I disagree that decreasing Shearer's role in the show (for which he is “so handsomely paid”) is the ideal way to treat the problem.
Shearer did, remember, sign on for several more years along with the rest of them, and if Larson Something's post is accurate even asked for more money then the others, so he's clearly willing to continue working on the show (regardless of his opinion on it), at least as long as the price is right.
Shearer's point (which I do basically agree with) was I think more that while he does make plenty of money off the show, the show itself makes SOOOO much money that the relatively little amount of money he recieves for it leaves him "totally screwed" in that department.
