The last player to accomplish the feat was Toronto Rock captain Jim Veltman in 2003, claiming the NLL title and later the Mann Cup with the Victoria Shamrocks.
With Dowling out of the mix, Dostie, who plans to live in Calgary full time, is battling for the open slot along with returning Rigger John Olson and recent draft picks Ryan Sharp and Jeff Callard.
Dostie collected the first honour in May with the Calgary Roughnecks and hoisted the Mann Cup in September with the Peterborough Lakers.
