Jimmie Foxx was more than just the "Beast" or one of the most physically imposing players in the game.
Foxx debuted with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1925 at the age of 17.
For all of his accomplishments, Foxx was elected to baseball's hall of Fame in 1951 on 79.2 percent of the ballots.

Hall attributed his struggles with left-handed pitching to growing up in a rural area where he rarely faced a left-hander.
The fact is, just as when he was a kid, Jimmie Hall never had that many major-league at-bats against left-handed pitching, and after he left Minnesota in '66 he was labeled a platoon player for the rest of his career.

Jimmie's aunt was a former teacher who held degrees in music and English, and she exposed him to a number of different styles of music, including vaudeville, pop and dance hall.
In 1924, Jimmie Rodgers was diagnosed with tuberculosis, but instead of heeding the doctor's warning about the seriousness of the disease, he discharged himself from the hospital to form a trio with fiddler Slim Rozell and his sister-in-law Elsie McWilliams.
Jimmie convinced the band to travel to Bristol, but on the eve of the audition, they had a huge argument about the proper way they should be billed, resulting in the Tenneva Ramblers breaking away from Rodgers.

The Twins had a reunion of their 1965 AL champs earlier this summer and everyone still living was there except Hall.
It may be that the Hall leaves it to the BBWAA to keep track of all these things.
