Jimmie Noone (sometimes spelled Jimmy Noone) (April 23, 1895 April 19, 1944) was an early jazz clarinetist.
Noone is generally regareded as one of the greats of the second generation of jazz clarinetists, along with Johnny Dodds and Sidney Bechet.
Noone's playing is not as blues tinged as Dodds nor as flamboyant as Bechet, but is perhaps more lyrical and sophisticated, and certainly makes more use of "sweet" flavoring, than the others.

Noone went on to play with Freddie Keppard in the Olympia Band, then in 1917 he followed Freddie to Chicago to join his Original Creole Orchestra.
In 1927 Jimmie started leading a band at the Apex Club in Chicago, and in 1928 he was joined by pianist Earl 'Fatha' Hines and recorded for Vocalion.

Noone, Jimmie (23 Apr. 1895-19 Apr. 1944), jazz clarinetist, was born in Cut Off, Louisiana, the son of James Noone, a farmer, and Lucinda (maiden name unknown).
Noone also led a larger group at the Greystone Ballroom in Detroit, played for a month at the Savoy Ballroom in New York in mid-1931, and in mid-1935 made an unsuccessful attempt to establish the Vodvil Club in Harlem in partnership with bassist Wellman Braud.
Noone's brief periods with Oliver are described in Walter C. Allen and Brian A. Rust's "King" Oliver, rev. Laurie Wright (1987).
