JimmyPerry and David Croft wrote the original screenplay.
As finally realised, two-thirds of the film consists of the creation of the platoon - this was the contribution of Perry and Croft - and the final third shows the platoon in action, rescuing hostages from the church hall where they'd been held captive by three German pilots.
Perry spent some time arguing for changes to try to reproduce the style of the television series, but with mixed results.
Jimmy had chosen to wear a leather jacket that day, but even the city room wasn't air conditioned enough to keep a leather jacket on for more than a few minutes.
Perry, of course, was in his standard dress pants, dress shirt, solid-color tie, and vest to match his pants.
Perry had overheard in the past a long-running office joke that as soon as he took his jacket off, his tie loosened, his vest unbuttoned, and his sleeves rolled up automatically, without any assistance from Perry.
Perry advises him not to touch the cabinet and to work on a racket story, but when the others have left him alone, the cub reporter plans to look the machine over...
Entering the cabinet, Jimmy begins feeling strange and when he emerges from it, it is as an elderly man. The cub reporter looks into a mirror and sees the long white beard...
Jimmy asks if Lois will help him babysit, but she is off to see the editor about a feature.
Jimmy exhales loudly in admiration and agreement with Perry's statement and walks into the garage with a mechanic's bag to look at the car more closely.
Jimmy asks about a second car that's in the garage and Perry tells him that he couldn't get it to shift to park last night, so he just left it there.
Jimmy is at the wheel and Perry is in the passenger seat.
Jimmy knelt beside the unconscious man, a grim set to his mouth and jaw, yanked the cord from the lamp and proceeded to lash Lex's hands tightly together behind his back.
Jimmy returned her smile and wave, but he didn't look like his heart=20 was in it.
Perry's expression was the=20 same that his father's had been on the day Clark had graduated high school= =E2=80=A6=20 pride flowing off him in waves.
To teach her a lesson, Superman, Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, and Robin try and convince her that she has returned to Earth 50 years after the rocket’s takeoff, and that the Man of Steel and all her friends and co-workers are old people now.
Jimmy evaded death by using the time machine to return to Earth in his proper era, but his memory of his Krypton adventure was wiped away by the crossing of the time-barrier.
Jimmy's memory returns to him while at the orphanage, but he tells Linda that he is going to stay to do a feature story on what it's like to live at an orphanage.
Synopsis: Jimmy and Lucy Lane are captured by Dr. Zarro, a criminal scientist who attempts to pry the location of the Fortress of Solitude from Jimmy by appearing to shrink them both to tiny size.
Synopsis: Jimmy Olsen accidentally has his head shaved and lends his signal-watch to his robot double, which convinces the Jimmy Olsen Fan Club of the planet Rax that he is a villain who has somehow done away with the real Jimmy.
Synopsis: Jimmy Olsen eats too much cake at a bake-off contest and has a nightmare that he is on Devil’s Island and must sell his soul to Lord L in order to escape.
Thirty four years ago, former soldier-turned-actor Jimmy was going through a bit of a lean patch, so he devised a rough outline for a sitcom.
The show was based on his teenage experiences with the Home guard and went on to become one of TV's all-time classics.
But the highlight will be two 'missing' episodes which haven't been seen since their original broadcast in 1968 - Operation Kilt and The Battle of Godfrey's Cottage.
