The BBC show's one-hour finale was a fond look back over the show's most memorable moments.  The British broadcaster decided in June it would axe the show — a countdown of the top 10 pop hits of the week — because it was lagging far behind the 24-hour music channels.
Sir Jimmy Savile opened the show, just as he did on its first broadcast in 1964, wearing a bright gold track suit.  Many of the show's former presenters were also on hand.
Sunday's show opened with a fl-and-white clip of a performance from the Rolling Stones singing their 1965 hit The Last Time.  The Stones launched the first show, on New Year's Day, with I Wanna Be Your Man.
