  Jing'an Temple predates city's birth
The Jing'an Temple, the most famous landmark in Jing'an District, is known as the oldest shrine in the city, dating back even further than the city itself.
The temple is currently undergoing the second phase of a major renovation, which involves an area of more than 17,000 square meters.
One of the structures is being used to hang the 3.3-meter Peace Bell, which was cast in 1999 to signify the advent of the 21st century.

The temple is currently being renovated and it rained all day, so needless to say it was not very crowded.
Compared to the Jade Buddha Temple, the Jing An Temple lacked monks.
This doesn't mean that they weren't there, but they were probably just looking down from a window somewhere thinking "Look at those stupid Westerners out in the rain".
