Jitte (weapon) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Although two weapons could conceivably be used for the same purpose, a single fused implement provides a safer means of catching a moving sword or knife.
The original form of the jitte is traditionally believed to have been created by the legendary swordmaker Masamune; it resembled its name of "ten hands", having that many prongs, and resembling a rake.
The jitte is the subject of the japanese martial art of Juttejutsu.

 Weapons History
Official use of the jitte was restricted to police officers of the feudal era, for whom it was a symbol of position.
It is not surprising, then, considering the importance of this weapon in the eyes of the samurai, that the capacity to read a blade, seeing and knowing the marks that indicate its maker and age, became a highly sophisticated art, requiring special facilities and knowledge, and long experience.
A common tactic with this weapon was to capture the victim and then to jerk him off his feet or horse, pressing the pole down to pin the neck to the ground.

WDOB.net MAI Shotokan Kata :: Jitte
The two words Jitte and Jutte are interchangeable, but if the name of the kata is written with the character for technology instead of ten, then Jutte will mean "Technology Hands" or "Technique Hands." Jutte is a homonym that is comprised of the kanji for technique and the kanji for hand.
There is also some speculation that the kata name refers to the jitte weapon that Japanese police often carried 200 years ago.
This weapon consisted of a pointed metal rod with a single appendage designed to catch a sword blade if used properly.

Here's a modern reproduction of an interesting and unusual weapon - the jitte, a baton with side hook traditionally used by feudal-era Japanese policemen as a sword-catcher disarming weapon.
In a class-conscious stratified society, you definetly have a problem when your cops are ranked much lower on the social scale than some of the drunken rowdies they need to deal with - such was the case in Japan in the late feudal period.
The jitte was the main response to "how do you keep "superior" sword weilding members of society from harming your poor low-caste policeman and other folks?

 Jutte
A single hook or fork, called a kagi, on the side near the handle allowed the jutte to be used for trapping or even breaking the blades of edged weapons, as well as for jabbing or striking.
One popular idea is that the jutte evolved from a strange battlefield weapon commonly believed to have been designed by Goro Nyudo Masamune, a renowned swordsmith.
Worn by the samurai warriors like a dirk, hachiwari were probably used as a parrying weapon, held in the left hand while wielding a sword in the right hand, or to pierce through body armor.

The jitte if i am correct is a samuri style weapon that is a bit bigger than a dagger but shorter than a short-sword.
The main feature of this bladed weapon though is that it has a blade catching part that sticks out of its handle, if the user is skilled enough an incoming slash can be caught in it, and if the jitte is twisted will buy enough time for the weapon in your other hand to strike.
Not really sure of names of the smaller weapons, but it'll be 2 smaller blades maybe one blade and a shield for the nimble dude.
