Jizan (Arabic: جيزان) is a province of Saudi Arabia.
Though the climate on the highlands is similar to the relatively wetter climate of 'Asir, the coastal regions of Jizan province are part of Tihamah, probably the hottest place in the world, with mean maximum temperatures ranging from 40°C (104°F) in July to 31°C (88°F) in January.
Saudi Arabia annexed 'Asir, Najran, and Jizan from Yemen in 1934.

Of the 316 suspected cases, 304(96%) have been reported from the southern coastal province of Jizan (1992 population: 860,000) and the contiguous Asir and Al Quenfadah health regions.
Additional studies are planne d to assess the magnitude of the outbreak, to define infection rates among high-risk groups, such as veterinarians and slaughterhouse workers, and to determine evidence for nosocomial transmission.

Saudi Deputy Interior Minister Prince Ahmed bin Abdulaziz said after the talks that his country had built "hurdles such as sand dikes" on its side of the border and was discussing construction of similar dikes on the Yemeni side.
The new measures are intended to "stop terrorists and those on the wanted list published by the ministry of interior (December 6) from escaping to Yemen as well as curbing drug and weapons smuggling operations," Saudi security sources said.
The head of the border police in Najran province, Abdullah Abu Nab, said that authorities in Najran completed the distribution of infrared cameras at the Khbash centre that overlooks the Yemeni border, adding that the authorities were ready to counter any "unusual behaviour."
