Jo Ann Emerson (born September 16, 1950) is a politician from Missouri, currently serving her fifth term as the Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from the state's 8th Congressional district.
Emerson was born in Bethesda, Maryland and graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University.
Bill's now-vacant congressional seat was going to filled in a special election and Jo Ann made a decision to announce her candidacy, but Missouri state law prohibited her from filing in the Republican primary.

WASHINGTON, DC - Senator Kit Bond (MO) and Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) announced late this afternoon that they have successfully secured a commitment from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) to have the US Forest Service assume operation of the Mingo Job Corps Center in Puxico, Missouri.
Working with the USDA, Emerson and Bond reached an agreement which would allow the USDA to take over operations from the Fish and Wildlife Service.
The plans to officially transfer Mingo's operations is pending final approval by DOL and Fish and Wildlife which is expected in the next several weeks.
