One Giant Lift for Mankind - The race for the 1,000-pound bench press. By Josh Levin
While the bench shirt has been around for two decades, the last couple of years have seen marked improvements in shirt design and technology and an increased focus on shirt-based training methods.
Because bench shirts severely restrict movement, lifters must practice and memorize an incredibly precise sequence of steps to bring the weight from the chest to lockout.
The bench press has now "become more a finesse and technique sport than a brute strength sport," says bench-shirt guru Bill Crawford, who leads the Metal Militia bench-press team.

 Bolt Thrower Interview
I was extremely honored when bassist, Jo Bench, was able to take time out of her busy touring and promotion schedule to say a few words about the Bolt's history, new album, and so much more.
Jo: The songs were changing constantly, even in the studio, so it wasn't until I took it back home and listened to the mastered version that I could finally say "Damn, this is one killer album!" We all worked really hard in the studio and it definitely paid off!
Jo: I just hope people will remember Bolt Thrower as a consistently good band who kept their word and didn't compromise.

Their sound, which has remained consistent throughout much of their career, retains elements of thrash, death metal, and grindcore (the latter of which is the term most commonly attributed to them, though the band themselves prefer to be called death metal), with lyrics often based on war themes.
In addition to releasing consistently well-received albums, the band is notable for being one of a very few extreme metal bands to feature a female bass player, in Jo Bench.
A new album was planned for recording in 2004, but those plans were placed on hold as vocalist Dave Ingram left the band for health reasons.
