Jay Ferguson - Music Downloads - Online
Bio: Best known as the lead singer of Spirit and Jo Jo Gunne, Jay Ferguson pursued a solo career in the late '70s before eventually moving into film scoring work.
Jo Jo Gunne released four albums before disbanding in 1975 amid a loss of musical direction, and Ferguson went solo, remaining with the Asylum label.
With his keyboard and MIDI expertise, however, Ferguson was primed to begin a new career as a soundtrack composer for film and television; he worked on The Terminator, Nightmare on Elm Street 5, and the UPN television series Viper, among many others, and remained active into the new millennium.

From the ashes of the multifaceted jazz/psych/rock combo Spirit rose Jo Jo Gunne.
Their self-titled debut would be the only release from this lineup as well as arguably the strongest of the four efforts to bear the Jo Jo Gunne moniker.
Although Jo Jo Gunne would issue another three long-players, they would each feature a slightly different personnel, with Smith being the first to jump ship prior to the band's follow-up, Bite Down Hard (1973).

And it is THE place to start if you are looking into Jo Jo Gunne (this assumes that you've done the essential pre-requisite research into Spirit).
Jo Jo Gunne's debut album is a hot, greasy slab of straight-ahead rock n' roll, far removed from the progressive psychedelia that lead singer Jay Ferguson's previous band, Spirit, had been known for.

Jo Jo Gunne - The Asylum Recordings: Jumpin’ The Gunne + So ...Where’s the Show? - from Rhino Handmade
Jumpin' The Gunne was released about eight months after their second album, Bite Down Hard, and features the very same personnel: Jay Ferguson on keyboards and vocals; Matt Andes on guitar; Jimmie Randall on bass; and Curley Smith on percussion.
Instead, the unfiltered instruments are again up front, with an emphasis and presentation far closer to the sound of their first album — and those distinctive keyboards and lead guitar really shine through.
Jo Jo Gunne's fourth album, "So...Where's The Show?" found John Staehely replacing Matt Andes on guitar, returning to the production guidelines of the previous album while expanding into the occasional track of synth-dominated "grandeur" rock.

Orlando Weekly - Music Review - Jo Jo Gunne
According to founder Jay Ferguson, the two primary musical inspirations for Jo Jo Gunne were Little Feat and Sly & the Family Stone.
As a result, "Jo Jo Gunne" is a heel-rockin' affair that shuffles along midtempo, strongly dependent upon the slide guitar grooves of Matt Andes and a rock-solid rhythm section.
Though the group scored a modest hit with "Run Run Run," their legend was secured through a series of live runs through the South and Southwest that enamored them to a certain disaffected contingent of shit-kickin' rockers.
