CARLOS PRIETO, Mexican-born and MIT-educated, is one of the most respected cellists in the world, regularly premiering works composed especially for him by Latin American, North American and European composers.
Prieto began playing the cello at age four, studying with the Hungarian cellist Imre Hartman and later with Pierre Fournier in Geneva and Leonard Rose in New York.
Prieto’s unusual background includes degrees in Engineering and in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which appointed him, in 1993, member of its Department of Music and Theater Arts Visiting Committee.

El General Ramón Freire Serrano descontento se alzó contra el gobierno recién constituido, que fue defendido por el General Prieto en Cancha Rayada, en la Batalla de Lircay el 17 de abril de 1830, donde derrotó completamente a Freire.

My Father was Nicanor Esteban Prieto born in 1901 in Santa Rosalia de Camargo, State of Chihuahua, Mexico.
The Prieto side of my family has faint recollection of family history of Asturias en Espania being the source of our family tree.
Nicanor Joaquin Prieto is buried at Arlinton National Cemetary.

The new management practices, which are available in a pamphlet to be distributed at the meeting, make recommendations on time of day to apply sulfur, wind speed conditions at application time, types of equipment to use and other factors.

January 28, 1998 in a program which included works by the Mexican composers Mario Lavista and Federico Ibarra, as well as by Johann Sebastian Bach and Dimitri Shostakovich.
Both the Tres Danzas Seculares of Mario Lavista and the Sonata of Federico Ibarra were dedicated to Carlos Prieto and received their Washington premiere at this very successful concert.

In 1825 he was sent as commander of artillery in the expedition to the Archipelage of Chiloe, taking part in the capture of the fort of Agui, and the whole campaign till the peace of 1827.
Under General Joaquin Prieto he was again commander of artillery during the campaign of the north in 1829-'30, which ended with the battle of Lircay.
In 1834 he had charge of the artillery of the department of Valparaiso.
