Daniel Lanois (born September 19, 1951, Hull, Québec) is a French Canadian producer and musician.
As well as being a producer, Lanois plays the guitar and dobro, as well as sings and writes songs, his wide range of talents being put to use on many of the albums he produces where he often leaves his signature sound.
Although, whenever Lanois isn’t making records for other people, he is writing and recording his own material for subsequent release.

Recorded at various studios in Canada and London, England, and remixed by internationally renowned Canadian producer Daniel Lanois (who received a Grammy and a Juno for his work on U2's The Joshua Tree), Redemption is a tasteful collection of evocative moods and reactions, embracing several variations of pop music and connected by an ethereal atmosphere.
Aside from co-writing two of the tune, Jocelyne also encouraged Malcolm to approach her brother Dan about remixing the album.
Lanois, a great believer in utilizing as many different environments outside the confines of a recording studio as possible, inspired Malcolm to try a few unconventional experiments himself.
