Akbar - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
He decided to pursue diplomacy and was able to convince the Kacchwaha Rajput rulers of Amber(modern day Jaipur) about a matrimonial alliance.
King of Amber agreed and Jodhabai became Akbar's queen and the mother of Prince Salim, who later became the Mughal emperor Jahangir.
Some historians claim that Jodhabai was actually the wife of Akbár's son, Jahangir.

Despite marrying the Amber princess Jodhabai in 1562, and having over 300 concubines at his beck and call, the monarch was childless.
Desperate for an heir, Akbar visited the saint, Shaikh Salim who was encamping here and who predicted that Akbar would have a son within 3 years.
Jodhabai’s Palace is befittingly the grandest of all palaces in Fatehpur Sikri – as she was his most favoured wife and the mother of the crown prince.

Young city slickers in their Reeboks and Benetton teeshirts actually disdained government handouts and trundled with their notepads and cameras behind Jodhabai, ate her frugal repast, reported on her migrant husband and sick children.
And it was not just Jodhabai that got her place in the media sun but her matka of water too.
In this mad, miraculous summer, just as Jodhabai on occasion became more important than the Prime Minister, the water pool deficit pipped the oil pool deficit to the headlines.

But nothing can change the besotted Salim's mind: neither sentiment (his mother Jodhabai tries to sway him), nor reason (Akbar appeals to Salim's sense of duty), nor treason (Akbar wages and wins a war against Salim and says he will be spared any punishment if he hands over Anarkali).

The Archaeological Survey of India has perfectly preserved this Mughal city as it was at the height of the empire’s splendour.
This walled city, majorly made of red sandstone, contains the dargah or mausoleum of the Sufi fakir, Sheikh Salim Chisti who is said to have granted Akbar and his queen Jodhabai their wish for a son.
Thus what is called Birbal's palace and Jodhabai's palace are the only buildings where Hindu architectural styles predominate while the others tend to be Mughal in nature.

Each frame of this classic celebrates the composite culture that is the hallmark of Independent India.
The pluralism it is founded on — a Muslim king, his Hindu wife Jodhabai, and his commander-in-chief, Mansingh — a love story based on social inequality, a son rebelling against his father, are themes that are still close to the Indian heart.
As for altering the classic, after all, the Sistine Chapel in Rome was repainted through computer technology to keep its colour alive.
