Joseph Thomas Elliott (born August 1st, 1959, in Sheffield, Yorkshire) is the lead singer of the British rock band Def Leppard.
Elliott first met Pete Willis in 1977 by chance when he missed a bus ride.
The band even took Elliott's suggestion to change their name to "Deaf Leopard", which was later changed to "Def Leppard" to look more like "Led Zeppelin" Elliott soon became an integral part of the band contributing also with his songwriting skills.

On the bands website they've mistaken Joe's Retro liner note as him saying he thinks Leps guitars were 'far superior' to theirs; when in fact he meant they were better than his guitar on the demo.
Joe is not given a producer credit so it may have been totally re-recorded but sounds very similar to the 1989 version.
