Joe Fagan may only have been manager of Liverpool Football Club for a couple of season but that doesn't tell the story of a fantastically loyal man. Nor does it tell you about his achievemts of winning the very first treble.
Fagan was always there for the club and he became a natural successor for the managerial role at Anfield when Paisley retired at the end of the 1982-83 season.

Joe Fagan - Encyclopedia, History, Geography and Biography
Fagan was particularly notable for buying Jan Mølby, a Danish midfielder who became an outstanding player for Liverpool, and for winning three competitions in his first season as manager (he was the first manager to do this with an English side, and only Alex Ferguson and Gerard Houllier have also managed this feat).
Fagan's contract would take him up to the end of the 1984-85 season, and it seemed unlikely that he would extend his contract beyond that date - as he would be 64 years old.
Following the Heysel disaster at the 1985 European Cup Final, Fagan opted to retire, and was succeeded by leading Scottish and Liverpool F.C. forward Kenny Dalglish.
