	8/20 - City acts to reduce energy consumption
		CAO Joe Fratesi said that the city has chosen not to close its doors, "but is taking reasonable steps to curb the use of electricity and conserve energy," while Ontario’s energy system is being restored to normal capacity.
		Fratesi said that about 50 per cent of the city’s staff is not working because of scheduled vacation time and that in itself helps conserve.
		Fratesi said that the management team will meet daily to review its conservation plan and determine if further action is needed.

		An official at the city Engineering Department in Sault, Ont. explained the new outfall location was chosen because it offers water 26 feet deep with greater current flow than the old outfall, placed in shoal water sounded at one foot deep.

	Bondfield Construction: Sault Ste. Marie Sports and Event Centre
		Speaking to LTV NEWS after the vote, Chief Administrative Officer Joe Fratesi said Bondfield is an excellent choice, as that company’s tender allowed for the greatest amount of Sault construction materials and labour on the Centre.
		Fratesi also assured Council the 21 million, 965-thousand dollar pricetag will not go up, saying the contract price with Bondfield is a fixed price.
		Council was also told the Sault Greyhounds signed a letter of intent Thursday to make the new arena their home for at least 15 years, perhaps for as long as 20 years.

	Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan
		Marie became a flashpoint in the Meech Lake Accord debate when its mayor, Joe Fratesi, shepherded a resolution through city council declaring the city English-only.
