Joe Morello (born July 17, 1928) is a jazz drummer perhaps best known for his years with The Dave Brubeck Quartet.
But the string world's loss was the drum community's gain, as Morello became one of the most technically accomplished drumset players ever to wield a pair of sticks, setting a new standard for mastery of odd-time signatures through his work with the Dave Brubeck Quartet.
Morello began studying violin at age six, and three years later was featured with the Boston Symphony Orchestra as soloist in the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto.

My only regreat is that Joe didn't start recording albums such as this one as soon as he left the Brubeck Quartet in the late 60's.
Joe Morello is hands down one of the most musical drummers.

I suspect that this may be "Castillian Drums" and not "Take Five," because of the tempo, and because Joe used his hands on other recordings of that song, but never on "Take Five." Just a guess.
