Joe was lucky to have had Mick Jones as his songwriting partner during the days of the Clash.
Joe passed on before he was able to add lyrics to the song, but it was too great of a song not to add, so Slattery and Shields added it to the cd.
Joe Strummer's death continues to depress me, especially after playing "Streetcore." His music as usual is timeless and will be with us forever...

The Clash made their splash playing raucous punk rock earmarked by a twin chainsaw guitar attack and Joe Strummer's strained vocal barks, so it's easy to forget that they could create some lovely music.
It's a lesson Joe Strummer has carried on as he's gone from angry young man to wizened elder, and with his new album, Rock Art and the X-Ray Style, and new band, the Mescaleros, he trades in the snip and snarl of punk for a loose yet powerful amalgam of blues, country, and reggae grooves.
This may not the be the best piece of music Joe Strummer has ever created--London Calling will forever be remembered as one of the most important records ever produced, and the other two Mescaleros albums are just as good--but this is my favorite.

Joe readily agrees to me shooting for punkcast and to help cut the red tape.
I guess this is why he made the effort to bring along Scratchy to dj the Mescaleros shows, and The Clash's shows back in the day, too, because Scratchy is a natural roots DJ.
On the VCD front, i had always intended to add a couple more songs to the four here, which, in VCD quality, are exactly what I gave to Joe and the band on the last day of the St Ann's shows.
