Again, while some advocates argue that, while serious mental illness does exist, currently far too many people are diagnosed as mentally ill - and sometimes detained involuntarily in mental hospitals - when they are (or their speech or behaviour is) merely different (or said to be different) from the prevailing attitudes of their society.
Many of the premises of anti-psychiatry have been adopted by psychologists working to treat mental disorders without medication, including sexual addiction counselor, Joe Zychik and David Keirsey, a clinical therapist and author of several books on temperament traits.
One organization often tied with the anti-psychiatry movement is the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR), founded in 1969 by the Church of Scientology and Dr. Thomas Szasz, who has continued to support this group over the years, though not associated with Scientology.

The NRA and Freedom of Speech, or: "Do as I say, not as I do", By Francis A. Ney, Jr.
A man I presume is pro-firearm, due to the fact that he serves as a Director of the NRA.
Joe had a few things to say about the NRA's presidential election non-endorsement.
From CrimeStrike(tm), to mandatory sentencing, to enhanced penalties, to the War on (some) Drugs, whenever I have played Thomas Aquinas to the NRA's Henry VIII, I have been ignored, ridiculed, or flat out told to get with the program and conform to the NRA standard (whatever that is) by both NRA members and officers.

Eye Weekly - A good manservant is hard to find - 12.02.04
The writer was disappointed in my suggestion, calling the site little more than an endorsement of the author, Joe Zychik's, book as well as an excessive critique of 12-step programs like those used by Alcoholics Anonymous, the model of which helped the writer through smoking and gambling addictions.
It turns out that Joe Zychik may not be the guy for everyone, to say the least.
I still agree with his critique of applying the 12-step model to sexual addiction, but upon further investigation, Zychik not only makes false claims about the cause of death of one of AA's founding members to bolster his own notions of AA's inadequacies, he is also a roaring pro-gun lobbyist.

Zychik reads the paper, does a little bit of thought, and writes an average of 10,000 bytes of information concerning the local and national follies in the news for that day.
Zychik always makes his points about the folly of big government and the value of human beings living in freedom.
Zychik's viewpoint comes mostly from the 'liberal' side of libertarianism, socially conservative libertarians find much to enjoy and nothing to openly criticize, although some may feel that there is something to disagree with that they can't quite put their finger on right off.
