Joel Quenneville was named the fourth head coach in Colorado Avalanche history and 12th overall in franchise history on July 7, 2004, returning to the organization that he began his NHL coaching career with in 1994-95.
Quenneville guided the Avalanche to its 11th consecutive playoff appearance in 2005-06, finishing second in the Northwest Division with a 43-30-9 record.
Joel is actively involved in numerous charities throughout the Rocky Mountain region.

Quenneville said it was a no-brainer in his part when Team Canada General Manager Jim Nill call him with the offer as head coach.

Joel Quenneville may not be the NHL's most high-profile coach but the St. Louis Blues boss is one of its best.
Quenneville began his 13-year NHL career in 1978 with the Toronto Maple Leafs, he played in over 800 NHL games along the way compiling 54 goals, 136 assists for a total of 190 points to go with his 705 penalty minutes.
After his playing career, Quenneville was became an assistant coach to his old American Hockey League pal, Marc Crawford, in Colorado when the Avalanche won the Stanley Cup in 1996.  In 1997 the St. Louis Blues came calling, and quickly hired Joel as their head coach.
