Joey's widow Linda unveiled a plaque dedicated to Joey near the TT startline, alongside a similar plaque in memory of Mike Hailwood.

Joey should have won the TT Formula 1 race but the fairies conspired against him in the shape of the red flag incident involving Paul Orrit and then the inability of someone staring at a back tyre to realize the tyre was finished resulting in a lengthy pit stop.
Joey Dunlop in a first lap blitz reminiscent of his TT races in the 1080's tore the field apart from the flag.
Joeys victory in the Ultra Lightweight TT was to be Joey's last TT win and even though he rode brilliantly in the remaining two races, the Junior were he finished fourth and the 2000 Senior TT in which Joey finished third, victory narrowly eluded him.

Joey first rode the 4.25 mile Billown Course in 1976, the diminutive Irishman, on his first visit, proved the sensation of the meeting with two second places and a third in the Wednesday evening's qualifying races, then, most important of all, a magnificent victory in the Championship event, shattering both lap and race records.
Reduced from 12 to nine laps due to the conditions, Joey was soon in the lead and although challenged strongly by Simon Beck in the early stages, he slowly but surely increased his lead from 0.3 of a second at the end of the opening lap to 14 seconds at the chequered flag.
Joey won the 250cc Race in the inaugural meeting and brought his tally of wins to eleven, when he took the chequered flag in the 1000cc Race last year.

Joey lapped the TT course at more than 110mph on over 250 occasions and in 98 starts rode close enough to the winning speed to claim a silver or bronze replica in 80 of them.

Joey may not be the greatest motorcycle racer ever, but hes the greatest man to ever race a bike!!!!!
There is so much to enjoy on this DVD: the slow-motion ballet of a great road racer, beautiful scenery, soul-stirring music, the "scary fast" sound and speed of big bore sport bikes (and the smaller 2-strokes) on bumpy, twisty, hilly public roads that have been given over so that true roadracers can ply their craft.
Joey's funeral in Ballymoney is very touching, and I didn't realize just how hugely he was loved in his home Ireland.
