The root of Baikal scullcap (Scutellaria baicalensis), commonly grown in rock gardens in the North America, is a traditional Chinese herb known as huang-chin.
Based on collections from far eastern Russia, Georgi provided the first botanical description of the plant in a 1775 publication describing the flowering plants of the Baikal region.
Eleuthero was first described in Western botany, and named Hedera senticosa in a 1856 publication by the Russian botanists Franz J. Ruprecht (1814—1870) and Karl Johann Maximowicz (1827—1891).

[14] Johann Gottlieb Gleditsch (1714-1786) was one of the first in Germany to accept Linnæus's sexual system and he also takes the opportunity to reveal many intriguing details regarding botany at numerous German universities.
Johann Georg Gmelin (1709-1755) entreats Linnæus to help him with the classifications of the plants in his Flora Sibirica (1747-1769).
Also Johann Amman (1707-1741), professor of botany at St. Petersburg, told Linnæus that surely he could not mean that the laws of nature were sanctioned by God.

Also known as Baikal skullcap, this member of the mint family (Lamiaceae) is a perennial found in sandy mountain soils in northeast China and adjacent Russia, Korea, Mongolia, Japan, and the mountains of southwest China, north of the Yangtze River.
It was first described in Western terms by a German-born botanist Johann Gottlieb Georgi (1729—1802), a professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg.
Based on collections from far eastern Russia, Georgi provided the first botanical description of the plant in a 1775 publication describing the flowering plants of the Lake Baikal region.

He complained that in the previous years his mill had been plundered by the French, and that he had been required to leave the mill with his family for eight days in order to seek protection in the town.
On November 9, 1858, Johann Jakob Friessinger from Grossbettlingen, district Nürtingen, leased the mill for the period from Georgi 1859/1865.

In the 1760s the Empress commissioned the Orlov Service, which she presented to her favourite Count Grigory Orlov.
The series Peoples of Russia, made after models by Jean Domenique Rachette, was created on the basis of research by the ethnographer Johann Gottlieb Georgi.
In 1777, the Empress commissioned the Gardner Porcelain Factory (one of the first private factories, which appeared in Russia between 1760 and 1770) to produce several formal services bearing representations of the Russian orders - the Orders of St George, Alexander Nevsky, St Andrew and St Vladimir.
