Johann Nepomuk Hofzinser - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Johann Nepomuk Hofzinser (June 19, 1806 – March 11, 1875) was a Viennese physician and magician best known for his clever conjuring inventions and refined sleight of hand skills.
Johann Hofzinser should not be confused with Swedish magician Max Hofzinser (né Josef Levin in 1885).
Max adopted the surname "Hofzinser" after seeing it in a magic catalog and spent most of his career riding the fame of his namesake.

The Hector Berlioz Website - A Poem in Honour of Berlioz
Johann Nepomuk Hofzinser was a very popular Viennese magician in the 19th century, like Robert-Houdin in France.
Berlioz met Hofzinser in Paris in 1844 and quite likely during his visit to Vienna in 1845-6 (though there is apparently no mention of Hofzinser in any of Berlioz’s writings or his correspondence).
This poem appears on page 38 of NON PLUS ULTRA, Johann Nepomuk Hofzinser, Der Zauber des 19.

 Meraninfo.it - Merano
Until 1918 South Tyrol was part of the Austrian empire and Merano, then known only by its original German name, Merano, was one of the most southerly resorts within it.
The first attempts at tourism were made in the first half of the 19th century, after the small town had been discovered by the Viennese Princess, Mathilde von Schwarzenberg, and her personal physician, Johann Nepomuk Huber, in 1836.
The various cures, including the whey and grape cures, already widespread at that time, and Merano's mild winter climate with its numerous sunny days were praised in a booklet published by Doctor Huber in 1837.
