In a very interesting interview, given for the Swiss magazine "Cash" (for those of you able to read German, here is the complete interview: http://www.cash.ch/index.cfm?kat=1&rub=41&id=352), Johann Rupert, head of the now not so glowing Richemont luxury group, said that one of Richemont's failures is not to have enough innovative products.
Rupert still does not know what luxury watch manufacturing really is. Apparently he thinks that synergy should be a key, but not in marketing and sales, but in administration and (at least that is what I understand) in production.

Ahead of Richemont’s AGM today, the Swiss-based luxury goods group has released a trading update in which executive chairman, Johann Rupert, has said that he will hand over the reins of CEO.
Rupert will remain in place as executive chairman of the group.
Rupert is, however, cautious about making predictions for the remainder of the year, saying that while the market is undeniably stronger than it was at this time last year, “in terms of the outlook for the remainder of the year, it is very difficult to make any concrete predictions.”
