 John Stote Lotherington Burn
John Stote Lotherington Burn was born in 1853, on the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, October 4.
In John's first long vacation, in 1872, his father died: and it was probably because he lived at home and devoted much of his time to his mother that the general college life saw little of him.
Burn was much grieved at the necessity, as he believed, for disobeying an individual bishop because his conscience owed allegiance to the wider Catholic authority of the Church and her precedents.

CATHOLIC ENCYCLOPEDIA: St. John the Baptist
John's reply was that he was Divinely "sent to baptize with water" (John, i, 33); to this, later on, our Saviour bore testimony, when, in answer to the Pharisees trying to ensnare him, he implicitly declared that John's baptism was from heaven (Mark, xi, 30).
John languished probably for some time in the fortress of Machaerus; but the ire of Herodias, unlike that of Herod, never abated: she watched her chance.
John's disciples, hearing of his death, "came, and took his body, and laid it in a tomb" (Mark, vi, 29), "and came and told Jesus" (Matt., xiv, 12).

 Regional Burn unit
A decision to admit all respiratory and smoke inhalation burns patients to the hospital ITU for initial assessment and care, mutually between the ITU staff and the Burn Unit (the ITU was situated on the ground floor of the hospital).
The number of admissions of patients with burns (and notably those of 15% total body surface area or more) appears to be reducing annually; the mortality of 4.7% is comparable with Bangour, but the 42% mortality of patients with burns of 15% or more of the total body surface area is a cause for concern.
It is concluded that it is essential that patients with burns are managed in a separate Burn Unit within the District General Hospital and not amalgamated with other areas such as Intensive Care.

 The Lillie's Of Langton Page
John Lillie was a blacksmith working in Aspatria in Cumberland in 1844 where he attends the wedding of his son John Lillie (at this time also a blacksmith) to Alice Burns.
For whatever reason the Lillie family only seemed to be passing through Cumbria in 1844 and left little or no trace apart from the marriage of John to Alice and the birth of their first son John Henry, in December 1844.
I can only assume that the father John and his apprenticed son John moved to Cumbria to work, either in the coal mines or on the new railway going through Aspatria about 1844.

The Rat of Baghdad - Who tattled on New York Times reporter John F. Burns to the Iraqi ministry of information? By Jack Shafer
That John Burns was unflinching in his reporting from Iraq and damned the authorities at every turn would have come as no news to his minders from the ministry of information.
Burns details the occupational hazards of reporting from a totalitarian, murderous country in his Embedded interview, excerpted in Editor and Publisher and on the Wall Street Journal op-ed page.
If the Burns allegation is true, elementary news judgment—at least from where I type—would dictate that any reporter who knows the mystery reporter's identity and the circumstances surrounding the incident should clear the cloud by writing the story, or at the very least speak for the record.

"John Sutton (the only son of John Sutton as yet discovered) apparently lived first at Hingham, but later removed to Scituate, in the Plymouth Colony, where on 2 Dec 1653 he sold the lands "which the town of Hingham gave to John Sutton, my father." He was therefore of age at this date.
This was due to a John Jewell claiming he was a suspect with leanings toward the British cause.

After the musical desert, in terms of output, during the late 80's and early 90's John Foxx seems to be trying to make up for lost time in recent years.
After what seems like a long absence from the music scene between the mid/late 80s and early 90s, it's good to have John Foxx back where he belongs.
Crash & Burn is really a progression from TPOE, minimal, often dancey electronica with a real energy and drive.
