Named after Sir John Abbott, Canada's third prime minister who lived in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue after his retirement, the College primarily serves Montreal's West Island Community, although you can also meet students here from other parts of Quebec and the rest of Canada.
The mission of John Abbott College is to provide an excellent education for students within a stimulating learning environment that will enhance their development and potential for success in society.

John Abbott College (JAC) is an English-language CEGEP (General and Professional Education College) located in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec Canada, at the western tip of the Island of Montreal.
Named after Sir John Abbott, Canada's third prime minister who owned a country estate in nearby Senneville, the College primarily serves Montreal's West Island community, although it also has students from other parts of Quebec, the rest of Canada and hundreds of international students, mostly from Germany.
The College was originally supposed to be built in Pointe-Claire next to Fairview Pointe-Claire and its stay on McGill's campus was to be of short duration.

Abbott later regretted this youthful act of disloyalty, and is said to have attempted to make up for it by raising and commanding (at his own expense) the militia detachment known as the Argenteuil Rangers (1862-1884).
In 1887, Abbott was appointed to a seat in the Senate, a seat he held until his death.
Abbott became leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister of Canada upon the sudden death of Sir John A. Macdonald in 1891, only three months after the Conservatives had won a general election.

John Abbott is an Entomologist and Lecturer in the Section of Integrative Biology at the University of Texas, Austin and a Research Associate of the Texas Natural History Collections (Texas Memorial Museum).
He has authored many papers on aquatic insects with several specifically on dragonflies and damselflies and has written a book on the Dragonflies and Damselflies of the South Central United States which will be published by Princeton University Press in February of 2005.
Abbott also sits on the IUCN (The World Conservation Union) Odonata Specialists Group and is a member of the Dragonfly Society of the Americas Executive Council.

The next year, I'm on The John Abbott team and we attended the World's Largest Women's Hockey Tourney in Brampton, Ontario, and won Gold in our division.
Oh yeah, since we had three goalie that year, I didn't see a whole lot of ice, so in one tourney, I decided to side with an opposing team(their goalies were all hurt, and our team said it was ok).
