John Adams (October 30, 1735 - July 4, 1826) was the first (1789-1797) Vice President of the United States, and the second (1797-1801) President of the United States.
John Adams had none of the qualities of popular leadership which were so marked a characteristic of his second cousin, Samuel Adams; it was rather as a constitutional lawyer that he influenced the course of events.
John Adams was a member of the Continental Congress from 1774 to 1778.

John Adams (4/5 November 1766 - 5 March 1829) was the last survivor of the mutineers from HMS Bounty who settled on Pitcairn Island in January 1790, the year after the mutiny.
After murder, disease, and other ills had taken the lives of other mutineers and Tahitian men, Adams and the mostly female population that remained worked out the rules of living in a new society, and Adams converted the other Pitcairners to his brand of Christianity.
Adams' example of leadership, and thus they decided not to arrest him for mutiny.

John Quincy Adams was born in Braintree, Massachusetts, (in a part of town which is now Quincy, Massachusetts), and acquired his early education in Europe at the University of Leiden.
Adams was then elected as a Democratic-Republican to the U.S. House of Representatives for the Twenty-second and to the eight succeeding Congresses, becoming a Whig in 1834.
Adams died in the Capitol Building, Washington, D.C. His interment was in the family burial ground at Quincy, Massachusetts and subsequently reinterred in the United First Parish Church.

DIX, John Adams, born in Boscawen, New Hampshire, 24 July 1798; died in New York City, 21 April 1879.
In 1819 he was appointed aide-de-camp to General Jacob Brown, then in command of the Northern military department, and stationed at Brownsville, where he studied law, and later, under the guidance of William West, was admitted to the bar in Washington.
He was a man of very large reading and thorough culture, spoke several languages with fluency, and was distinguished for proficiency in classical studies, and for ability and elegance as an orator.

Living on a 1¾ square mile volcanic speck in the South Pacific that is surely one of the most isolated places on Earth, the contemporary Pitcairn Islanders still bear the surnames of the eighteenth century mutineers (Tom Christian, for example, is the great-great-great-grandson of Fletcher).
The islanders speak a dialect that is a hybrid of Tahitian and eighteenth-century English.
In 1825, a British ship arrived and formally granted Adams amnesty, and on November 30, 1838, the Pitcairn Islands (which also include three uninhabited islands—Henderson, Ducie, and Oeno) were incorporated into the British Empire.
