  New Georgia Encyclopedia: John Amos (1924-1990)
John Amos was a lawyer, businessman, and civic leader who in 1955 founded the American Family Life Assurance Company (now known as Aflac) in Columbus with his brothers William and Paul.
Amos was also active in the Democratic Party and was one of the earliest leaders in Columbus to host integrated political and social gatherings.
Amos died of lung cancer on August 13, 1990, at the age of sixty-six, and was buried at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus.

John and Peggy have never been found on any of the 1834 north Georgia census records, so it is a distinct possibility that they were living with Amos, but in no way has this been proven.
Given the fact that Amos and his parents both have not yet been found on the 1830 census as well, I tend to believe at this point in time that John and Peggy were living or traveling with Amos and his family during those years.
