In the summer of 1813 John Chadwick, Abner Brownell, and Ira Todd came from Toddsville to what is now Chadwick's, Oneida county, bought both of John Greenleaf's "powers," removed the old saw mill to the upper end of the present village and converted it into a dwelling, and founded the Eagle, Cotton factory.
John Chadwick was a man of great executive ability and integrity, prompt in business, and one of the foremost pioneer manufacturers of the Sauquoit valley.
Chadwick was married on November 5, 1855, to Miss Mary Ann, daughter of Absalom and Lucy (Scofield) Wrigley, of Oldham, Lancashire, England.

John Chadwick tells the story of Linear B. Not to denigrate the achievement of Champollion's success with Egyption heiroglyphs, Linear B had no Rosetta Stone.
John Chadwick is of course the man who assisted Vestris to decipher this ancient language and perhaps that is why Singh's chapter on how the language was initially 'cracked' is so much more interesting than the chapter Chadwick provides on it.
Chadwick starts to get interesting in the later chapters where he examines the form of Linear B in far greater depth - how it was used and the sounds and its relationship to the ancient Greek language.

Oliver Heywood, the noted nonconformist minister stated often in his diaries that he visited the Chadwick homestead in Rochdale, which suggests that like the Stancliffs, the Chadwicks were sympathetic to the Nonconformist cause.

The purpose of this exercise is to demonstrate the ambiguity of the term "Greek".
By using Chadwick's analogy, I can claim that the aboriginal people of Ontario, Canada that lived in Ontario 1000 years ago were English because certain toponyms like Ottawa, Algonquin, Oshawa, Mississauga, Nottawasaga, Kanata, Ontario, etc., were found to exist in both cultures.

Her parents were Allen Bond brn abt 1850 IT Choctaw,and Sarah Wilson brn abt 1850 Ky. They lived in Campbell Co Tn in 1880.
I believe that John Chadwick had other siblings somewhere in the Southeastern Ky area,but have hit a wall trying to find any info on him or any family members.
