Century, John Crompton Weems took possession of La Grange, the portion of Talbott's Resolution Manor that would one day be known as Blandair.
John Weems, for instance, was elected to fill the Congressional seat vacated by John Kent, the newly elected Governor of Maryland, in February of 1826.
Weems was subsequently reelected to the House of Representatives, serving in Washington until 1829[2], and working as a gentleman farmer at Blandair when Congress was not in session.

I'm hunting for that mysterious connection between JOHN & KITTY WEEMS and JOHN & ANN BLACKWOOD of Greene Co., TN.
I found information that ANN WEEMS was the wife of my JOHN BLACKWOOD, but there is no documentation, but this would explain why JOHH WEEMS was made guardian for the minor children of JOHN & ANN BLACKWOOD.

This is an old posting but I was curious if you had made any headway into the surname of "Kitty", wife of John Weems.
I have tried to tie the Weems family to the Jones Kendrick family, but have not had much luck.
In my family, there are several Jones Kendrick Weems, and I think this must have some tie to Jones Kendrick but am not sure how.

He was counsel for General Wilkinson, commander-in-chief of the U.S. army, who in 1811 was summoned before a military court on various charges, and he conducted the defence to a successful issue.
Jefferson Davis records an incident at a White House dinner in 1849, at which all the parties interested were present, when President Taylor, speaking to Senator Davis of his army life said: "You know my wife was as much of a soldier as I was." She had four children, Anne, Sarah Knox, Elizabeth and Richard.
Sarah Knox Taylor married Jefferson Davis, at the time a lieutenant in the U.S.A. Elizabeth married Colonel Bliss, adjutant on the staff of General Taylor, and after his death she was married to Philip Dandridge of Virginia.
