John Adams was a member of the (The legislative assembly composed of delegates from the rebel colonies who met during and after the American Revolution; they issued the Declaration of Independence and framed Articles of Confederation) Continental Congress from 1774 to 1778.

A recent cleaning of the crypt of John Paul Jones beneath the grounds of the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., removed the remnants of 100 years of wax build-up and the dirt and grime of an estimated 200,000 crypt visitors each year.
John Paul Jones memorabilia within the Crypt were also cleaned, restored and arranged more attractively under the supervision of Scott Harmon, director of the Naval Academy Museum.
John Wilson, special events coordinator at the Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center, has visited the Crypt several times since it reopened in May. "You notice the difference just as soon as you walk in," he said.

It is now possible to run John the Ripper on OpenVMS (both Alpha and VAX) targeting any of the supported hash types, and to crack OpenVMS passwords (SYSUAF.DAT) when running on any of the supported platforms, due to patches and VMS executables contributed by Jean-loup Gailly.

A: Actually, some parts of crypt() are not of my own: the assembly version of XForm() is based on the one by Roman Rusakov (but I optimized it even more and adapted for usage here) and the crypt() initialization routine is from Crack v4.1 by Alec Muffett.
John has been compiled using DJGPP v2 by DJ Delorie with GCC 2.7.2, the DPMI server is by Charles W Sandmann (sandmann@clio.rice.edu; 102 Hurst Ct, Destrehan, LA 70047), its source code is at ftp://x2ftp.oulu.fi/pub/msdos/programming/djgpp/v2misc/csdpmi1s.zip.

In 1899, three years after the chapel was completed with its empty crypt, the US Ambassador to France, General Horace Porter, began what would become a personal, six-year search for the body of John Paul Jones.
In 1913 John Paul Jones was at last laid to rest in a sarcophagus of Royal Pryenees marble donated by the French Government.

There is now a vast literature on technology and applications of HMMs, but there are only a couple of articles I know of in the open literature specifically addressing application to cryptanalysis, and unfortunately I can't recommend them, because they don't show any real advantage over other well-known approaches.
