Black Label Society - "Hangover Music Vol.VI"   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
The lyrics of this track really shows the talent Zakk has for writing words.
John Deservio plays a huge bass line for this track and really shows his playing talent.
The solo has a little bit of an abstract feel to it.

Zakk Wylde & Black Label Society "Hangover Music Vol. VI"
As the title implies, "Hangover Music" is a thought-provoking, warming and consistently fascinating collection of songs that show off the mellower side of Zakk's personality.
As much a fan of Elton John and Neil Young as Black Sabbath, Pantera and Judas Priest, Wylde shows his true diversity here.
From the hypnotic opening strains of "Crazy or High" to an emotional vocal-piano interpretation of Procol Harum's 1967 hit, "A Whiter Shade of Pale", the album vacillates between moments of claustrophobic density ("Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow") to the tragic ("She Deserves A Free Ride").

On drums, he has some session guys you may have heard of: Craig Nunenmacher and John Tempesta.
Same thing with bass guitar: James Lomenzo, John Deservio, and Mike Inez.
For you non-drinkers, a great way to enjoy this is to turn out the lights, and turn up the stereo about halfway.

I was excited about the concept of the old Anthrax doing some stuff, but I have to say that, overall, I do prefer John Bush over Joey.
I'm sure that there'll be more reports in the near future, and hopefully the band can work out a plan that includes Bush being involved.
Former BLS bassist John DeServio will be taking over for the next tour, but no word yet on whether or not he's a permanent replacement.

As for the bass duties - they've divided between James Lomenzo and John DeServio, excluding the opener "Crazy or High" where former Alice in Chains four-stringer Mike Inez' work can be heard.
Regarding the drums, they should be credited to Craig Nunenmacher, with the exception of "Once More" - a hope-loaded tune where the sticks have been handled by the well-known John Tempesta (ex-White Zombie, Testament).
VI" is definitely one of the highest quality records created lately, both as production and composition.

Grooving the night away are Kara Lynn (lead vocals/rhymes), John "LJ" Kanopka (lead vocals/rhymes/lead guitar), Matt Carl (saxophone/vocals/keyboards/percussion), John "JD" Deservio (bass/vocals/rhymes), Scott Morely (keyboards/samples) and Bob Mierzejwski (drums), a/k/a The Vibe.
Lynn vocally masters the variations of music by today's hottest female singers.
Deservio, a NJ bass icon, thrills you song after song with a sound known throughout the state as simply the best there is. Perfecting Ja Rule, he provides a vocal toughness that demands respect.

Zakk Wylde earns reputation as one of rock's best guitarists - Focus   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
By toning down the heaviness in comparison to previous BLS albums, the guitar, bass, and drums are able to blend nicely, allowing for each instrument to provide maximum effect.
The solid basslines offered by Wylde, James Lomenzo, John Deservio, and Mike Inez are more noticeable than on most BLS music and provide a nice touch.
Wylde provides balance by openly adding in piano on gentler tracks such as "Damage is Done," "Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow," and Procol Harum's classic "Whiter Shade of Pale," the lone cover on the album.

 Biography
Before the Stronger Than Death tour, it was announced that J.D. had decided to leave the band to pursue other interests, and he was replaced by Steve "S.O.B." Gibb, son of Barry Gibb from the BeeGees.
VI was released April 20th, 2004, and featured James Lomenzo, Mike Inez, and J.D. (known as "Mt. Bassmore") sharing bass duties on the album, Craig Nunenmacher once again on drums, and former Rob Zombie drummer John Tempesta appearing on one track.
But before the tour began, it was announced that James Lomenzo had decided to leave the band, and that John "JD" Deservio, the band's original bassist would be returning.

Upon the album's introduction, "Grow," vocalist Bernard Fowler's voice is quite reminiscent of ex-Ozzy Osborne guitarist Zakk Wylde, especially given the similar infusion of blues and rock, a wicked combo given the edge and urgency of both.
I only had to look as far as the credits to find Wylde's presence, as his former drummer (Brian Tichy) and bassist (John DeServio) are audible on Feedback.
Also on hand, a myriad of other performers: bassist T.M. Stevens (Steve Vai), ex-Pearl Jam drummer Dave Abbruzzese, Neville brother Ivan, and former Living Colour bassist Doug Wimbish.

But the April ’04 release was not a one-man show.
Drummers John Tempseta (White Zombie/Rob Zombie) and Craig Nunenmacher were onboard along with three bassists; James LoMenzo (who worked on the “Pride & Glory” LP and with David Lee Roth), John “JD” DeServio (Black Label Society) and Mike Inez (formerly of Alice In Chains).
With titles like "Suicide Messiah," "Death March," "Too Tough To Die" and "Dirt On The Grave" it’s not hard to figure out where Wylde and Black Label Society are coming from on '05 release "Mafia." This is a dark, riff laden effort.

The guitar combo surely turned up the heat, as their sizzling guitar riffs turned Avalon into a frenzied mosh pit.
The BLS rhythm section that includes drummer Craig Nunemacher, and also featured the return of bass player John "JD" Deservio, who recently replaced James Lomenzo held down the heavy BLS beat, cranking out some heavily ladened bass lines, and pounding drum rhythms.
Tonight’s BLS show was full of diversity, that included songs from the past, and present, and the band even managed to throw in an extended guitar jam and tribute to Led Zeppelin.
