  John Douglas Hazen - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Hazen entered politics in 1885 when he was elected as an alderman in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
Hazen was elected to the Canadian House of Commons as a Conservative candidate in the 1891 federal election.
As premier, Hazen fought political corruption and attempts by the federal government to reduce the Maritime provinces' representation in the federal House of Commons.

John Douglas Hazen was born June 5, 1860, the son of James King Hazen and Elizabeth Beckwith.
Hazen was first elected in 1891 to the House of Commons as a Conservative representative for Saint John but was defeated in 1896 and turned to provincial politics.
In 1911 Hazen accepted the portfolio of Marine, Fisheries and Naval Affairs in Borden's Dominion cabinet and was elected by acclamation for Saint John.

John Clarence Webster (1863- 1950), born in Shediac; surgeon, historian; wrote medical and scientific treatises; upon retirement from medicine, turned to historical research and helped found museums at Saint John and Fort Beauséjour.
