		My view is that judges should be more circumspect about political issues than some of them are, since their comments can raise suspicion that they would not impartially and according to law decide cases based on legislation they have criticised in the past.
		Justice Dowd postponed his decision until he was entitled to a generous pension.

		The team of four lawyers from the Australian chapter of the International Commission of Jurists is being led by Justice John Dowd of the NSW Supreme Court, a former Liberal politician who has been agitating for an investigation into the military and anti-independence militia.
