		Her second husband, John du Plessis, assumed the title of earl of Warwick in 1245, and in 12 50 received a grant of his wife's lands for life.
		His son Guy de Beauchamp, loth earl of Warwick (1278-1315), received grants of land in Scotland for his services at Falkirk, and in 1301 was one of the signatories of the letter to the pope denying the papal right to interfere in Scottish affairs.
		She was succeeded in 1493 in the earldom by her grandson Edward Plantagenet, i8th earl of Warwick (1475-1499), son of the duke of Clarence, and therefore the Yorkist heir to the crown.

	John DUDLEY (1° D. Northumberland)
		Dudley served as Guildford's lieutenant in the campaign of 1523 and was knighted by Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk, for his valour at the crossing of the Somme.
		Dudley was named an executor of the King's will and according to Secretary Paget he was to have been elevated as Earl of Coventry; in the event it was the earldom of Warwick which he received from Edward VI.
		He himself was joined in the Lords by his eldest surviving son John, under the courtesy title of the Earl of Warwick, and he was instrumental in the summoning of two other peers’ sons, Sir Francis Russell and George Talbot, in their father's lesser dignities.

		While often ranked behind his contemporaries Guillaume Dufay and John Dunstable, at least by contemporary scholars, his influence was arguably greater than either, since his works were cited, borrowed and used as source material more often than those by any other composer of the time.
		A famous example of a composition by Lassus which is a representative of this style is his series of 12 motets entitled Prophetiae Sibyllarum, which is in a wildly chromatic style reminiscent of Gesualdo; some of his chord progressions in this piece were not to be heard again until the 20th century.

		That Elizabeth loved Dudley and continued to love him, in spite of frequent quarrels, is a theory quite tenable; but the opposite theory, that she loved no-one at all, and merely employed Lord Robert as a stalking-horse against other suitors, is also tenable.
		Lady Amy Dudley died suddenly in 1560 at Cumnor Place, in North Berkshire, in circumstances that were at least suspicious, and part of the suspicion involved not only Lord Robert but the Queen as well.
