Farmer said, he would seek to drop charges in 77 of 94 cases in which defendants claimed they were stopped only because of their race or ethnicity, and were therefore seeking to suppress as evidence the weapons or drugs that troopers seized.
Farmer called today's decision to dismiss the cases a difficult one, and he seemed to swing between a resigned acknowledgment that the accused drivers might have prevailed in having their cases thrown out, and a tough insistence that the evidence against them was sound, even if the way it was obtained might not have been.
Farmer and Justice Verniero, along with dozens of other law enforcement officials, about their knowledge of the extent of racial profiling and their efforts to eradicate it, including the handling of the case against Troopers Hogan and Kenna.

Farmer subsequently served as Senior Counsel to the 9/11 Commission (officially known as the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States) chaired by former New Jersey Governor Thomas Kean and former Indiana Congressman Lee H. Hamilton.
Currently, Farmer is practicing law in New Jersey as a partner in a national firm and is a regular contributing writer to The Star-Ledger (of Newark) and other publications.

Farmer said that the Division of Criminal Justice has sent an Attorney General Directive to all New Jersey law enforcement officials regarding how to implement the law.
The legislation signed by Acting Governor DiFrancesco on April 19, 2001, known as "John's Law," authorizes the arresting law enforcement agency to impound the vehicle operated by the person arrested for DWI for a period of 12 hours.
The law also requires that the individual picking up the person arrested be issued a written warning that advises them of potential criminal and civil liability for permitting or facilitating the arrested person's operation of a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

I wrote a post recently that challenged John Tanner’s position when he voted against a resolution praising our troops and the newly formed Iraqi government.
Since he pushed the same line as did Harold Ford, Jr, I find Blogging for Bryant’s accusations that the “excuse” is a bald face “lie” applicable to Tanner as well.
