John's two sons, David, Clinical Coordinator at Health South in Syracuse and Brian, were present at the National Athletic Trainer's Association Annual Symposium in Baltimore, Maryland to accept the induction of their father into the Charter Class of the New York State Athletic Trainer's Association Hall of Fame.
John Sciera worked as an Athletic Trainer in New York State for 25 years, and is the person singularly responsible for the establishment of the New York State Athletic Trainer's Association in 1976.
John graduated from Cortland State Teacher's College in 1952 and got his physical therapy certification from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

In "Early Settlers of New York State", Sylvester Hall, Benajah Hall, Ruth Hall and Sabra Hall, are listed in the Greenwich, NY Seventh Day Baptist church records, "Bottenkill" South Patent, records.
Another correspondent writes, “My Asa's father walked all the way from New York to pay Asa and his brother, Jesse a visit, he stayed through the winter and walked back in the spring.” Glenn HALL says he wore a hunting coat and coon skin cap 'made of great stoof' (she was Irish).
