Hancock Insurance   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-09)
Insurance, in law and economics, is a form of risk management primarily used to hedge against the risk of potential financial loss.
Insurance premiums from many clients are used to fund accounts set aside for later payment of claims - in theory for a relatively few claimants - and for overhead costs.
Self insurance is only possible for a truly insurable risk, meaning a risk that is measurable enough in the aggregate to be able to accurately estimate the amount that needs to be set aside.
