Although named after Ray Asbury’s grandfather, Joseph Henry Kilbuck, who was of Native American descent, the scholarship is also a tribute to Nancy Asbury’s father, Allen Scott.
His great-grandfather John Henry Kilbuck, a Delaware Indian, traveled by himself to Pennsylvania for schooling and received a classical education at Nazareth Boys’ School and Moravian College and Seminary in Bethlehem, Pa. These schools continue to point with pride to Kilbuck, their first Native American graduate, who completed his studies in 1884.
Friends and other members of the extended Kilbuck and Scott families are also contributing to the fund.

Reverand John Hinz, a Moravian missionary in Alaska, and an accomplished linguist, was astonished upon hearing of Uyaquk's invention.
Uyaquk is said to have written constantly during the trip, writing as many stories from the Bible as he could in the new script without stopping to sleep.
Hinz and the Kilbucks aided Uyaquk by telling him scriptures, but Uyaquk refused to learn to read or write English, as he thought that English literacy would make him lose his identity as a Yupik.

The Kilbuck Cemetery is a rural cemetery located at the intersection of Kilbuck Road and Crill Road.
It was surrounded by pines, overgrown with grapevine and weeds, and difficult to identify as a cemetery from Kilbuck Road.
The site was cleaned up by a local boy scout troop which had the unexpected and unfortunate effect of making it visible to traffic on Kilbuck Road.
